New averages dictated changes to the Tigers' riding order, with only Josh Grajczonek retaining his position at number 6. Shane Parker and Trent Leverington swapped heat leader positions, Robert Ksiezak moved to number 2 partnering Trent whilst Ross Brady took on the difficult third heatleader role at number 5 and Lee Dicken, after some fine early season showungs, moved into the team to partner Shane at number 4. Mitchell Davey got to drop down to number 7 and this should allow him some easier rides to build his confidence. Both Ross and Mitchell were back after the knocks they took in last Sunday's cup match against Birmingham had kept them out of the mid-week second leg.
Following that suprise win in the Midlands, the Tigers must have been raring to go about avenging the Spring Trophy defeat at the hands of their closest rivals, although this Monarchs team has been performing well.
Gate pattern B in operation.

Heat 1
The Edinburgh pairing were swift from the tapes but Trent Leverington, after a slow start, came sweepng round turn 2, only for Ryan Fisher to move out and dump him into the fence at the pits' entrance. The referee excluded the American and Trent had some treatment before taking his place in the re-run.
This time Derek Sneddon was moving at the start and the three remaining riders were called back again.
At the third time of asking, Sneddon shot to the front and Trent nipped under Robert Ksiezak on the first turn but the Monarchs' skip took the win in a fast time. Unfortunately, this was as close as the Tigers got all day to their Friends from the East!

Sneddon, Leverington, Ksiezak, Fisher(Exc) (3-3) (3-3) - 57.9

Heat 2
Mitchell Davey gated with Aaron Summers, but Andrew Tully seemed to baulk Josh Grajczonek and, as they emerged from the turn, it was the Monarchs in front again. Josh chased hard after Tully and a bold wide run on turn 3 final lap took him close, but the young Scot held his ground to take the Monarchs into the lead.

Summers, Tully, Grajczonek, Davey (1-5) (4-8) - 59.1

Heat 3
Shane Parker looked sharper from the start and, although Thomas Jonasson mounted an early challenge, he could not keep up with Tigers' skipper's masterly show, which resulted in Shane knocking 0.2 seconds off his existing Track Record.

Parker, Jonasson, Lawson, Dicken (3-3) (7-11) - 57.1(New Track Record

Heat 4
Summers got away but Ross Brady tried the high line to round Matthew Wethers on turn 2. The Monarchs' former Tiger charged fast into turn 3 to easily move through to second, securing another Edinburgh maximum. Ross retired on lap 3 and this gifted Mitchell Davey the point.

Summers, Wethers, Davey, Brady(Ret) (1-5) (8-16) - 59.4

Heat 5
Shane again gated like lightning and easily snuffed out Sneddon's challenge. Lee Dicken was all action as he tried to pull back Fisher and he kept it up till the final turn when he overcooked it and ended up on the deck.

Parker, Sneddon, Fisher, Dicken(Fell) (3-3) (11-19) - 57.7

Heat 6
With Trent ruled out of the rest of the meeting, Shane Parker came in for a Tactical Substitute outing from 15 metres back. Wethers made the best start but Robert rounded him on turn 2 as he knew what he needed to do to make the most of the tactical move. Wethers came back under him on turn 3 to move him aside. Shane rounded Tully on turn 2 lap 2 and moved round Robert on turn 2 lap 3 when Robert locked and Tully came down. Nevertheless, it was a heat win to narrow the gap.

Wethers, Parker(TS), Ksiezak, Tully(F.Rmtd) (5-3) (16-22) - 58.6

Heat 7
Ross made a complete mess of the start but Josh was in the mix at the first turn before Jonasson pulled ahead. Lawson's experience told as he bided his time until he took the wide line off turn 2 lap 4 to pass the youngster on the back straight.

Jonasson, Lawson, Grajczonek, Brady (1-5) (17-27) - 58.1

Heat 8
Robert was nominated for a Tactical Ride and Josh came in to replace Mitchell. Summers made a great start with Fisher last away, but a superb inside line cut through the Tigers' pair and join his young Aussie partner at the front. Robert was well behind until Josh messed up turn 1 on the last lap, for the consolation single point.

Summers, Fisher, Ksiezak(TR), Grajczonek (1-5) (18-32) - 59.0

Heat 9
Shane got the run to the bend and make it easy for himself. Tully got round Wethers on turn 2 and closed up on Shane on turn 4 but the Tigers' top man took care of him and eased to another victory.

Parker, Tully, Wethers, Dicken (3-3) (21-35) - 58.5

Heat 10
Josh came in for the injured Trent. It was the youngster at the centre of the action on the tight first turn as he collapsed in the middle although referee McGregor brought all four back for the restart.
Robert was level into the turn but first Jonasson, then Lawson, flew past for yet another Monarchs' maximum.

Lawson, Jonasson, Ksiezak, Grajczonek (1-5) (22-40) - 59.0

Heat 11
Mitchell swapped places with Josh. Fisher and Sneddon gated without any real challenge and that sealed up the win for Edinburgh.

Fisher, Sneddon, Davey, Brady (1-5) (23-45) - 59.9

Heat 12
Shane looked back to his best with another jet propelled start and Josh rounded Tully on turn 2 for only the second heat win for the home men.

Parker, Lawson, Grajczonek, Tully (4-2) (27-47) - 58.1

Heat 13
Josh took the place of Trent. Wethers and Sneddon got away but Josh got in about them on the first turn and Sneddon spun out, letting Ross through to third. Josh had a good tussle with Wethers until the last lap when he lost a little control on turn 2. Sneddon was desperate to take third but Ross grimly held on.

Wethers, Grajczonek, Brady, Sneddon (3-3) (30-50) - 60.0

Heat 14
The unbeaten Summers was too tense and touched the tapes. He elected to go from 15 metres back and his shot at a maximum appeared to have gone. Jonasson held off Lee's challenge on turn 2 but it was Summers doing all the work at the back until a brave drive between the Tigers coming off turn 4 lap 3 took him into turn 1 ahead to complete his reserve's maximum.

Jonasson, Summers, Dicken, Grajczonek (1-5) (31-55) - 59.8

Heat 15
With only pride at stake, Shane, looking in fine form all day, finished off with another superb win.

Parker, Lawson, Wethers, Ksiezak (3-3) (34-58) - 58.9

On a long and disappointing day for Tigers' fans, only Shane Parker with a superb show, being beaten only on the handicapped race, could consider to have had a satisfactory day. Trent Leverington was unfortunately taken out of the meeting through no fault of his own and this didn't help Tigers' cause. This is a strong Monarchs' septet, well served by all and Jonasson looked better than his debut match and maximum man Summers, although not facing Shane, looked so different than his short-term stint last season. Tigers have got a lot of work to do to get their season back on track, but not every team will be as strong as those faced so far.
