15 May 2007: Mildenhall Call In Old Foe
Glasgow FSM Outdoor Advertising Tigers will be the last team to start out on their quest for the Premier League title as the Mildenhall Fen Tigers come a-calling to Ashfield this coming Sunday. Every other team has already commenced their league fixtures and Co-Promoter Alan Dick is well aware of the need for a positive start, even with a Monarch lining up in the opposition ranks:

"Yes, the inclusion of Daniele Tesarri as a guest for Jamie Smith is a very shrewd one indeed and will unquestionably make them a more formidable outfit, especially if his last Ashfield performance is anything to go by. However we feel that we will have enough firepower to win this tie and get our league campaign off to a great start. We have had a bit of a rest and that should allow one or two of the lads to get back to full fitness and we can start off in a positive vein. We have had some great results so far and now that the most important competition of the season starts then we hope to be at full capacity. David McAllan has been the one who will have benefitted from a break and he should have a very important role to play in the coming fixtures."

TEAMS:

GLASGOW: George Stancl, Lee Dicken, Shane Parker, Robert Ksiezak, Trent Leverington, Lee Smethills, David McAllan

MILDENHALL: Tom P Madsen, Shaun Tacey, Kyle Legault, Jason King, Mario Jirout, Mark Thomson, Daniele Tesarri.

THE BEST OF THE REST:

Glasgow will look to achieve mission improbable next midweek with the first leg of the Premier Trophy Semi Final taking place at Kings Lynn on Wednesday. The Stars have been nigh on invincible over two legs for the past couple of seasons and even with their loss of two key riders they have still achieved an incredible level of consistency and have swept all before them. The Tigers will host the second leg on Sunday 3rd June.

The Tigers first away league fixture is scheduled for Thursday of next week with a trip to the pacy Owlerton raceway in Sheffield. The Sheffield side are also very difficult to beat on their own track and Glasgow bosses will be going there to record as positive a result as possible. The action will be the first of 14 away fixtures in the league.

It is well done to Robert Ksiezak who has qualified for the semi final of the World Under 21 Championship and has been drawn to ride in Latvia on Sunday 17th June. Robert progressed from a very wet night at Rye House on Saturday with 9 points and 7th place in an excellent meeting. It was a more credible performance when you realise that Robert had not scored a point in two previous visits to the Hoddesdon raceway. Edinburgh rider William Lawson has also qualified for the semi's although he has been drawn to ride in Denmark. The down side to Robert's quailification is that he will miss out on two vital fixtures, against Berwick at Shielfield Park and Somerset at home on the 17th.

Another honour for Robert is that he is called up for the Australian Under 21 side for the World Team Cup in Poland, again though he will miss a vital home fixture - against Kings Lynn in the semi final of the Premier Trophy. The only positive is that it is likely that he will have dropped to reserve for the meeting and therefore a guest would be available.

The Four Team Tournament was called off on Sunday due to heavy rain and will be rescheduled for Sunday 8th July, which means that the Tigers will not be staging a fixture that afternoon. The same teams will be represented on the 8th and the groups will stay the same.
